Child safety standards

Last updated: October 26, 2026

These are the child safety standards for the Small World app (package com.momalapps.smallworld). Small World has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

Small World is for people aged 16 and over. It only connects people who have already agreed to be connected — there is no public feed, no stranger discovery, and no anonymous chat with people you don't know. That does not change our standards: CSAE is prohibited in every form, whether or not a child is meant to use the app.

What we prohibit

You may not use Small World to create, upload, store, share, request, solicit, or otherwise facilitate CSAE or CSAM. That includes, for example:

  • any visual depiction — photo, video, or computer-generated imagery — of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct (CSAM)
  • grooming a child for sexual exploitation
  • sextorting a child, including threats involving real or alleged intimate images
  • trafficking of a child for sex, or advertising or soliciting a child for commercial sexual exploitation
  • sexualizing a minor, or otherwise sexually exploiting, abusing, or endangering a child
  • sharing tips, tools, or links that help others find, create, or distribute CSAM

“Child” and “minor” here mean anyone under 18. These prohibitions apply on top of our community guidelines and terms of use.

How we use these terms

CSAE means child sexual abuse and exploitation: content or behaviour that sexually exploits, abuses, or endangers children — including grooming, sextortion, trafficking of a child for sex, and other sexual exploitation of a child.

CSAM means child sexual abuse material: any visual depiction of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct. CSAM is illegal. We do not allow it on Small World.

Age

You must be at least 16 to create a Small World account, and you confirm it when you sign up. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16, we delete it. Accounts used to target, groom, or exploit minors are removed, and we report confirmed CSAM as required by law.

How to report

If you see something that may be CSAE or CSAM on Small World:

  • In the app: report the person, message, or photo from their profile or a chat. They are not told.
  • By email: write to support@small-world.app with the subject “Child safety”. Say what you saw, where it appears, and why you think it is CSAE or CSAM.

Anyone can email us — you do not need an account. If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. We are a small team and cannot respond quickly enough in a crisis.

How we respond

When we obtain actual knowledge of CSAM or other CSAE on Small World, we take appropriate action under these standards and applicable law. That can include:

  • removing the content
  • suspending or permanently closing the account
  • preserving relevant records where the law requires it
  • reporting confirmed CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and/or the relevant authority for the country involved (in Germany, that includes the authorities responsible for investigating such crimes)
  • cooperating with lawful requests from law enforcement

Reports about child safety are reviewed by a person on our team. We do not tip off the reported account while we look into a CSAE concern.

Laws we follow

We aim to comply with applicable child safety laws and regulations where Small World operates, including duties to remove CSAM when we know about it and to report confirmed CSAM to the appropriate authority. German law applies to the service; if you are a consumer in another country, you keep the protection of that country’s mandatory rules.
